RAWSON – In the midst of the pandemic and of one of the crudest storms of the last 20 years, a group of provincial deputies from Chubut starred in a controversy from the photo viralization -uploaded by several of these protagonists to their states on WhatsApp- in which they are shown doing poses in the snow on a trip they had made to deliver supplies and food to families affected by the intense snowstorm.
On social media, they questioned lawmakers for simulating a “graduate trip.” It is at least four legislators from the so-called Chubut interblock to the Front, which is made up of 9 deputies who belonged to the ruling bloc and who today answer to the deputy governor of Chubut, Ricardo Sastre.

The deputies traveled together with advisers to the area affected by the snowstorm in Chubut. The heavy snowfall, which fell on the Cushamen area and other rural communes in the province, caused the death of animals and hundreds of isolated people. Several residents of the region have already been rescued and transferred to safer areas.
In this context, a group of deputies traveled with their advisers to the provincial interior to take assistance to people affected by the heavy snowstorm and low temperatures.
The entourage used official per diem and was made up of deputies José Giménez, Leila Lloyd Jones (and her husband, Gustavo Cardozo), Mariela Williams and Gabriela De Lucía, and an important group of advisers.

For his part, Lloyd Jones went out to give explanations and, on his Twitter account, clarified: “I am in Los Altares, Fofo Cahuel, Cushamen working, bringing solutions.”
According to what he said, they distributed firewood and food. “We were with health and education workers. We are in the territory while others, on the phone, are viralizing a photo in the snow. Everyone chooses where to be,” he said.
The deputy recommended that “those who like to viralize a photo in the snow, walk with facts, not promises.”
We distribute firewood, food. We accompany the neighbors, the authorities. We were with health workers, education. We are in the territory while others with the phone viralizing a photo in the snow. Everyone chooses where to be. & – Leila (@leila_lloyd)

Mariela Williams also took advantage of that social network to clarify the situation. “Each of us here came in their own vehicles, we brought more than 6 tons of food, clothing, water, footwear from solidarity campaigns that were delivered to the commune of Cushamen,” he closed.
