Municipalities – Frankfurt am Main – Goetheturm remains closed at Pentecost – Politics

Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) – The Frankfurt Goetheturm will remain closed over Pentecost and beyond. Despite the announced easing in the Main metropolis, the city will not open the popular excursion destination to visitors. The corona requirements are not feasible, said a spokeswoman for the city’s environmental department of the German press agency. The city would need to put in place a registration system to ensure contact tracking and prevent queues in front of the tower.

The landmark in the city forest fell victim to an arson in 2017. In 2020 the observation tower in the city forest was rebuilt. After reopening in April of this year, the tower was only accessible for a few days: visitors had noticed that screws on the steps were loose, and the tower was closed again for maintenance work. The shortage has now been eliminated, as the city reported.
