Porto hotels and accommodations offer more than 180 rooms to health professionals

Several hotels and local accommodations in Porto will provide more than 180 rooms for health professionals, in order to “shorten travel” and avoid the risk of contagion with their families.

In a statement, the Municipality of Porto said, this Monday, that this “spontaneous” response came from a coordinated work with the various hoteliers and owners of Local Accommodation (AL) in the city.

“Many professionals in the health sector do not want to risk contagion from or to their families and prefer not to return home after a day at work. This is also a way to shorten travel and break times”, stresses the municipality.

According to the Porto Chamber, “more than 180 rooms” are already available to health professionals and “many more can be used”.

The autarchy also advances that it has not only been the entrepreneurs of the tourism sector “showing availability” and a “high civic sense”, but also the big companies of the city that has made the municipality reach “financial and logistical availability to help fight the disease, in an unprecedented show of solidarity “.

“The municipality of Porto coordinates and articulates availability with the hospital administrations, with which it has been working closely and permanently in areas such as the provision of personal protective equipment and the import of medical instruments from China, such as ventilators”, resembles the autarchy.
