Popular video game series “God of War” is to become a series

Will “God of War” anti-hero Kratos soon be seen in flesh and blood on Amazon Prime? Allegedly, a series adaptation of a video game series is being negotiated.

the essentials in brief

  • «God of War» may be coming out as a TV series soon.
  • Amazon Prime Video is already in talks with Sony and PlayStation.

Apparently, another popular video game series is about to be adapted into a television series. Amazon Prime Video is currently considering a live-action adaptation of the action-packed fantasy epic “God of War”. This is what the US site “Variety” reports. According to the report, negotiations are already in progress with Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions.

“Variety” also names the first names that should be associated with the project. Accordingly, Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby would implement the potential adaptation together with Rafe Judkins.

Epic story full of blood and pathos

“God of War” always offers plenty of material for a long-running series. The template first saw the light of day on the PlayStation 2 in 2005. Since then, the tragic hero of the story, Kratos, has competed against the entire world of gods.

In the first three parts, the main character took revenge on the rulers of Olympus. These drove him by insidious deceit to kill his own family.

Meanwhile, in the 2018 reboot, Kratos raged in Norse mythology, now alongside his son Atreus. In short: Amazon would have to dig deep into their pockets for the trick technology. As is well known, the streaming service proved that this is not an obstacle with the implementation of its in-house “Lord of the Rings” series. The costs for this should amount to around one billion US dollars.

Video games more in demand than ever

Once again, a “God of War” implementation would show how popular video game templates are at the moment. An adaptation of the end-time shooter “Fallout” is already in the works – also on Amazon. Meanwhile, HBO is busy working on its “The Last of Us” series, while even on March 24 (in this country via Sky) the Master Chief from the “Halo” games can celebrate his series debut.
