“Let strife, wars and quarrels lead to understanding and reconciliation,” the head of the Catholic Church said in a speech on Monday in St. Peter’s Square in Rome following the prayer to the Virgin Mary, “Regina Caeli” (“Queen of Heaven”).
People need to focus on peace and justice, the 85-year-old pope called for.
At Easter, the Pope of Rome repeatedly mentioned the war in Ukraine, commemorating the “Easter of War” in honor of the greatest holiday in the church calendar – the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
He called for an end to the fighting and for the people in the war-torn country to pray.
