The newspaper Corriere della Sera secured “pre-publication” excerpts from his autobiography Pope Francis, which will be released on March 19 in Europe and America. The pontiff wrote his autobiography together with the Italian journalist Fabio Marquez Ragona and her title is “Life, my story within History”.
“A cardinal told me that a good believer, a lady, told him that she was sure that I was an “anti-pope” For what reason; Because I don’t use the traditional, red shoes. Referring to the poor does not automatically mean one is a communist. The poor are the banner of the Gospel and are in the heart of Jesus. In the Christian communities there was communal ownership. This is not communism, it is pure Christianity beyond measure.” states according to APE – MEB.
With reference to the years of his youth, the pope in his autobiography reveals: “Before I entered the seminary, I had a fiancee, a girl who worked in the cinema, very sweet, who then got married and had children. Then one day I went to my uncle’s wedding and met a dazzling girl. She was so beautiful and smart… For a week she was constantly on my mind and it was hard for me to pray. Then luckily it passed and I was able to dedicate myself completely to the call of the Lord”.
Pope Francis reiterates that he is not thinking of resigning and adds that if that ever happens, he should not be called “pope emeritus” but “bishop emeritus of Rome”.
As for the Vatican and its “human” character, Francis writes: “some were more interested in politics, in the election campaign looking forward to a new conclave. It’s human, don’t panic. When the pope enters the hospital, there are many thoughts. There are also some who exploit certain information to their advantage or to gain something from its publication. Fortunately, despite the difficult times, I never thought of quitting”according to APE – MEB.
