Pontianak City Government Has Not Opened Infant Immunization Services at Posyandu, This Is The Reason

PONTIANAK, iNews.id – The City Government (Pemkot) of Pontianak, West Kalimantan has not allowed Posyandu to open infant immunization services. The decision was made to prevent the widespread spread of Covid-19.

Furthermore, immunization for infants is carried out at the Puskesmas by scheduling with health cadres in each region.

“For now the immunization service for babies is scheduled by the Puskesmas, whose schedule is also arranged with the health cadres,” said Head of Pontianak Health Office, Sidiq Handanu in Pontianak, Monday (6/29/2020).

Sidiq said, the immunization service had actually been opened since May 2020 after being closed for a month. But for Posyandu it has not been done as a result of the pandemic.

The decision to temporarily close immunization services at the Posyandu because Pontianak is still in a pandemic situation. The opening of Posyandu for immunization is considered vulnerable to transmitting Covid-19.

Sidiq said health services during the pandemic were indeed declining. Not only immunization, all health services for the community were affected.

“In the last three months all health service activities have had a great impact,” he said.

He added, during the pandemic health workers in Pontianak did not work from home and remained present in health facilities. Nevertheless, many people are reluctant to come because they are worried about the Covid-19 outbreak.

Currently, in addition to Covid-19, health workers also focus on handling dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) so that cases do not spike.

“What needs to be taken care of now is that there will not be outbreaks such as the DBD case,” he said.
