Politics, Party Leader Debate | Draw also in Bergen

In Nettavisen’s opinion, there was also a draw in this autumn’s second party leader debate – but with completely different winners than in Arendal.

Tonight it was simply Prime Minister Erna Solberg (H) and Prime Minister candidate Jonas Gahr Støre (Labor Party) who walked away with the victory – both with a 5 on the dice.

A solid revenge from Arendal, in other words – where they came in the shadow of Guri Melby (V) and Une Bastholm (MDG).

Tonight it was TV 2 that was responsible for the party leader debate – of course from Bergen. In advance, it was clear that the debate should be about three main topics:

  • Climate
  • Your treasure after the pandemic
  • Private / public health services

Tonight’s battle is the second party leader debate in this year’s election campaign. After the NRK debate in Arendal, it was Guri Melby (V) and Une Bastholm (MDG) who got 5s on the dice.

The seas: Right down the throat of the red-greens: Fear massive tax increase

Tonight it was different:

Note: The ranking says little about who we agree with. Instead, we try to assess whether the politicians managed to hijack several possible voters among their own sympathizers during the debate.

Who do you think won the debate? Vote at the bottom of the case!

Erna Solberg (H): 5

Prime Minister Erna Solberg (H) has had a bit of a headwind in recent weeks. Some opinion polls now show a deadlock between the bourgeois and red-green side, so perhaps she still has hopes of four new years in the chair.

Offensive on climate, with a message that is connected. Shows her authority when she only “takes” the word from Vedum, and manages to speak clearly without using the worst clichés. Back in the old style, will not introduce wealth tax, list areas where differences have become smaller, even take on the task of summarizing the debate. Shows the same authority in the privatization debate.

Erna Solberg got roll of the dice 4 after the party leader debate in Arendal on 16 August.

Jonas Gahr Støre (Labor Party): 5

The tailwind has calmed down a bit for Jonas Gahr Støre lately, but the reason for that is mainly the back road that SP leader Trygve Slagsvold Vedum has messed up in. Red-green election victory is no longer as obvious as it was two weeks ago, and that probably marked the debate tonight.

The seas: Listhaug in the party leader debate: – Must stop whipping and harassing people

Nevertheless, he also manages to be offensive. Will not put the oil industry in the corner of shame, is clear and distinct – and personal: Says he has promised his children and grandchildren that we will achieve these goals, and is believed in it. It is clear that those under 750,000 should have less tax, those above should have more. The corporate tax is flat. Also appears with authority when he is challenged by Lysbakken and Vedum, and is the one who appears unifying.

Jonas Gahr Støre also met carefully with roll of the dice 4 in Arendal.

Sylvi Listhaug (Frp): 4

NRK

A lot is at stake for the new party leader in the Progress Party. She did not notice this tonight, and was also offensive on climate. Really well done, since she represents the party that will go completely different ways in climate policy than the others. Has a clear problem when she resorts to well-used clichés – here again about “left-wing radical socialists”.

Is also in proper in the different country when she says that the most important thing is to reduce the fees, for example in cross-border trade. She knows her voters, only if they are many enough.

Do not think that the voters at home in the living room are primarily concerned who which provides the care services, and scores points in the privatization debate. Sylvi Listhaug rolled 3 in Arendal.

Trygve Slagsvold Vedum (Sp): 3

Center Party leader Trygve Slagsvold Vedum is still the joker in this election campaign, but has met with strong opposition in the polls lately. The question now is preferably how steep the downturn will be.

Still, he tries the well-known recipe of joking and laughing a little at first, and does not hesitate to use the same clichés that he has used many times before – tonight about those who “can not fill the old car with diesel”. Also fails to assert itself in the tax debate, and may be characterized by the downturn in the polls.

Trygve Slagsvold Vedum got dice roll 3 by Nettavisen also in Arendal.

Audun Lysbakken (SV): 4

In contrast to Vedum, SV leader Audun Lysbakken has enjoyed the polls in recent weeks, and clearly has government power in sight. The question is whether it holds up completely.

He too is clear and clear on climate, but he too is tempted to reuse good remarks – today the one that “what we need an end date for is the FRP’s influence on Norwegian climate policy”. Honest and clear that he will increase taxes and use the money to increase welfare. The tax party for the rich is thus over, and also in the privatization debate he is on the side of the public health workers.

Audun Lysbakken also rolled 4 dice in Arendal.

Guri Melby (V): 3

Liberal leader Guri Melby has had a tough summer, but this autumn she has begun to approach the magic barrier in the polls. It might need energy for a proper sprint, but we saw a weaker Melby tonight.

She seldom manages to fight for the word, and seldom has to carry out a coherent reasoning. Good when she points out that when some of the parties argue for lower taxes, they have forgotten the point from the previous topic – that the taxes are there to reduce climate emissions. In the other areas, she is unable to convey a clear message.

Guri Melby was one of the winners of the previous party leader debate, and got roll of the dice 5 in Arendal.

Kjell Ingolf Ropstad (KrF): 3

KrF has also had a small boost after a bad summer, but is still well below the threshold in the latest opinion polls.

Weak on climate, rarely gets the word out, but sometimes compensates by never giving it up. Still unable to present coherent lines of thought with authority. Kind and straightforward, but gets a little confirmed with the brewers. Shows strength in the privatization debate, but not enough to get on the podium.

Kjell Ingolf Ropstad got the worst grade in Arendal, and then had to settle for roll of the dice 2.

Une Bastholm (MDG): 3

MDG is still well above the threshold, and seems to be able to make a good choice even though progress has stopped a bit lately.

Has authority on climate, but rarely gets and takes the floor. Is the one who makes absolute demands, and thinks the small parties have to be tough, because then the big parties will not get around them. Honestly, we party will increase taxes sharply in the future, it is needed to cope with the climate cuts, but is otherwise powerless in the tax debate.

Une Bastholm was named one of the winners of the party leader debate in Arendal, and got dice roll 5 by Nettavisen together with Guri Melby.

Bjørnar Moxnes (Red): 3

Red climbs and climbs in the polls, and if it continues all the way in, the party will end up well above the barrier limit.

Turn to the clichés and slogans right away. Now the rich will be taken, and there will be an end to using private planes at the cabin. How many apply? Will return more strongly in the debate about the tax, and will probably get a part in the fact that the rich will pay more – almost regardless of how it affects the business community.

Bjørnar Moxnes failed to take advantage of the tailwind during the previous party leader debate, and ended up among the losers with dice roll 2 in Arendal. A little up tonight, then.

Arill Riise (host) 4

Skilled, confident and funny – but could tonight use the referee’s whistle a little more in cases where the party leaders got over-ignited.
