Politics has become frighteningly funny: Irony and sarcasm – weapons of mass destruction – 2024-02-29 20:00:29

/ world today news/ Enough has been said about Javier Miley after his election as president of Argentina. And about his ties to America. And that it is interesting to the world in the context of the struggle for resources (Elon Max has long wanted to take all South American lithium for himself). And for his stylistic similarity and almost imitation of Trump and Bolsonaro (by the way, both are now out of work). This is all true.

And there’s more: Miley is a product of an era in which almost everyone has suddenly become postmodern. And therefore everything is frivolous, everything is a joke and a half-joke, and irony and sarcasm burn common sense, values and competitors.

At the same time, meanings are deconstructed, and the attempt to speak seriously is cut at the root. The people – or the electorate – seem to be tired of serious politicians trying to think about what really matters.

Show must go on – this is the main postulate. And everything should become a show. It is clear that every politician is a populist in one way or another; The only question is – to what extent? and is there anything else in it?

Miley rose to the fact that she fed the electorate with a bright show, to the fact that with extreme cynicism and self-confidence she announced that, figuratively speaking, when it rains, you should take an umbrella. Unfortunately, in our age, many people do not need more. And this is not a murmur, but only a dry, as an old man’s heel, statement of fact.

Miley is a judgment not only on politics, but also on the humanitarian and intellectual state of society. People don’t just let themselves be fooled – they want to be fooled.

The crazier, the more amazing the promises, the better. It is one of the forms of long-term escapism so willingly and frequently practiced today.

But is Miley the only one? What about the others? The most obvious example is the triumph of postmodernism in Ukraine, where Volodymyr Zelensky came to power, very quickly turned from a talented media manager into a bloody paranoid who feels his end. But how did he come to power?

However, it is a fact that many voters voted not for a real person, but for a screen image. By the way, this guy on the screen, Goloborodko, is actually the complete opposite of the real President Zelensky in his current version.

Yes, life only imitates art, but sometimes in a completely twisted way. Once again, instead of a real political program, the Ukrainian electorate was offered entertainment content.

However, the triumph of postmodernism in Ukraine did not end there. On the contrary, it was only a prologue. Along with Zelensky came – or was “arrived” by – a team of media managers accustomed to being primarily responsible for content production.

So Servant of the People became Barking Dogs (remember that movie with De Niro and Hoffman?) with elements of The Matrix and Apocalypse Now.

The reality, if it still persists, is that the media managers, while making gigantic money from the war, only know how to create a picture; that’s why it’s the scariest reality show in the world, only the blood in it is real. Ukraine is the peak of postmodern politics and the politics of postmodernism, after which the sine wave creeps downward.

At the same time, we must not forget that we are not dealing with exceptions, but on the contrary, with a trend. Donald Trump – who is he more: an actor or a politician? Boris Johnson, who looks so much like Miley, started his career with a TV show.

Jimmy Morales, the president of Guatemala, and Marjan Sarec, the prime minister of Slovenia, were comedians. We could go on, but it is already clear that the media has long been a special form of power that gives real power.

And this despite the fact that the era of universal openness has not yet arrived, when everyone can become famous through social networks, and therefore everyone will enter into competition with everyone. A like is no longer just a like, but it’s also not a ballot in the ballot box.

Why is that? There are very specific reasons for this. This world is pygmyizing itself and politics is no exception. In general, political figures of the level of De Gaulle or Roosevelt have practically not remained and are unlikely to appear. However, the same applies to any other area.

Today, each of those who come to power for the first time is like a balloon inflated with advertising, globalist ideas and populism. There is nothing real about it, and any of these characters can be replaced with another. Yes, frames decide everything, but what if those frames basically don’t exist?

The second reason is not so obvious. It consists in the fact that humanity has basically given up being serious. Not ready to discuss really important topics. All the discussions around them are reminiscent of an interview with a contender for the title of Miss Universe, conveying how she longs to establish peace in the world.

Please note: intrusive, sticky laughter can be heard from everywhere. People are having fun and laughing, laughing and having fun.

The Joker, this failed stand-up comedian, is a symbol of the new age, a useless person who dreams of entertaining people and justifies his every abomination by being a victim. Hey, is anyone here really willing to think? Can someone here have a serious conversation?

They started joking and laughing because they were afraid. And now they can’t stop. It’s all reminiscent of Island of Fools from Moontown – except that David Lynch helped Nosov create it.

So it is not surprising that people like Zelensky and Miley seek power and come to power. Jokes are all the rage these days. The problem is that these buffoons are evil, vain and stupid, and therefore extremely dangerous.

As Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote: “Stupidity is worse than malice. We can resist anger, but we are powerless against stupidity.”

Judging by what is happening now, when stupid pygmies, compensating for the lack of intelligence and scale with arrogance, are tearing the world apart, the laughter, as in the classic story, is getting bloodier. Farewell and hysterical notes are increasingly felt in it.
