The ex-wife of the Kremlin dictator has real estate in Europe, which is estimated at millions of euros.

After Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, fearing sanctions, the ex-wife of the president of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, began selling apartments.

Politico journalist tried to follow Ludmila Putina, while exploring European luxury real estate, now Ocheretnaya, and her husband amassed a decade after her marriage to the Russian president ended. He found a luxury apartment located a 20-minute walk from the beach in Marbella, a resort town on Spain’s celebrity-dotted Costa del Sol. It was worth approximately 1.1 million euros when it was bought in 2014, and property prices have only risen since then.

The investigation notes that after the divorce, Ocheretnaya led an intense private life; however, her marriage in 2015 with Ocheretny, an Ironman triathlon lover, 20 years younger than her, was kept secret until journalists discovered that Lyudmila had changed her last name, transmits “Channel 24”.

“The couple is not on the European Union’s sanctions list, but that could change quickly; after all, London has already sanctioned Ocheretnaya and her adult children. If Brussels followed suit, it could suddenly leave the apartment and the rest of their European portfolio unreachable,” explains the journalist urgent sale of real estate.

After her divorce from Putin, Lyudmila became “almost invisible.”

Putin and Ocheretnaya are still closely connected

Gradually, Lyudmila began to leave the stage … and Putin appeared more and more lonely. ” Their marriage ended, as they announced, “by a common decision.”

“The marriage may have expired, but aspects of the relationship – in particular, their financial component – continued,” the investigator added.

The marriage of the Ocheretnys, which no one reported, took place at a time when the couple’s real estate portfolio was expanding rapidly.

The apartment in Marbella is one of two in the city that Ocheretny purchased shortly before the wedding. Ocheretny bought the first one in 2011 for about 800 thousand euros, and the second one in 2014 for more than 1 million euros.

Politico writes that the registration documents show that the apartments are still his property.

“Over the past decades, this area has become a magnet for Russian money. About 3,000 Russians officially live in Marbella, the real number is much higher,” the local realtor quoted the publication as saying.

It is noted that the UK has also imposed sanctions against Ocheretnaya as part of an attempt to “hit Putin’s financial channel”, strengthening control over the president and his inner circle, but the EU and the US have so far excluded her and her husband from their list.

“However, the fact that Ocheretnye have not been targeted by the EU does not mean that they never will,” the journalists said.

Real estate in Switzerland: what is known

In 2015, around the same time that Ocheretny married Lyudmila, he purchased a luxury apartment in Davos. The declared value of which at the time of purchase was about 3 million euros.

However, journalists drew attention to something else: Ocheretny was able to buy an apartment in Switzerland, despite the fact that Swiss laws prohibit foreigners from buying houses, with the exception of a number of circumstances.

Another “outstanding addition” to Ocheretny’s portfolio is the eccentric Art Deco villa Villa Susanna, located about 6 kilometers from the resort town of Biarritz on France’s southwest Basque coast.

“Villa Susanna is not the only real estate in the city associated with the Russian president. In 2012, Kirill Shamalov, the then husband of Ekaterina Tikhonova, the youngest daughter of Putin and Ocheretnaya, bought a house for 3.5 million euros with a sea view,” the investigators noted.

It seems that Putin and his ex-wife still have a lot in common, especially real estate.

Recall that earlier we wrote that Lyudmila Putina wore when she was the first lady of Russia.
