Political storm in Spain after 3 desperate moves

Oviedo, Spain

The Socialist Party of Spain unveiled three separate movements of distrust in regional governments ruled by right-wing allies on Wednesday, sparking divisions among traditional allies and vowing to shake up local administration.

The first movement took place in the southern region of Murcia, which was governed by a coalition of the Conservative People’s Party, center-right citizens, and far-right Vokes.

On Wednesday morning, the Socialist Party and its citizens issued an unexpected announcement that they had filed a motion of no confidence against the regional government.

Both sides said they would join forces to run the region, ending 26 years of unrest without the region’s People’s Party.

After the news, the president of Madrid, Isabel Auso, announced her sudden departure from the Citizen Party, with which she governed the Spanish capital. He also called for quick elections in Madrid.

He apologized for the election, but said: “If I had not done that, the citizens and the socialists would have presented a resolution of censorship”, which would have been “catastrophic for Madrid”.

The Madrid Citizen Party refused to conspire against him.

“I listen to his press conference in total disbelief. Lie How irresponsible, ”Ignacio Aguado, deputy prime minister of Madrid, tweeted.

However, the Socialist Party and Mass Madrid presented no-confidence motions against the Ayusho government on Wednesday.

Ayuso will have to face a referendum to dissolve his government in the regional parliament, since Spanish law establishes that a government cannot provoke an election when faced with a vote of no confidence.

What the Citizens’ Party will do in that referendum will be crucial for who can assume leadership responsibility. According to local media, Ayuso has dismissed all the civil ministers of his government.

The Socialist Party advanced on Wednesday a motion of censure in the region of Castilla and Lyon. The Citizen-Popular Party alliance appears to be strong there, as both parties told the Socialists at a press conference to “lose all hope.”

However, the socialists will need some members of the citizenry to cross the border to rule the region, traditionally led by conservatives.

Catalonia, a powerful Spanish province, does not yet have a functioning government, as the parties have not been able to form a coalition since the elections nearly a month ago.
