The Greens have not renounced to their project to have a seat on the federal Council, warned Saturday in the press Balthasar Glättli, the only candidate vying for the presidency of the party. “We will evaluate our opportunities to every opportunity that presents itself”, he says.
“We need to be ready if someone withdraws from the federal Council, even if I doubt that there is a vacancy during this legislature,” said Balthasar Glättli in an interview aired by “Time” and newspapers from German-speaking of the media group Tamedia.
For this, the party needs to “outline a number of scenarios, prepare different candidates,” said national councillor from zurich. If he says he doesn’t want the position, he dream, however, “to be the president of green that will install the first or rather the first federal councillor green”.
He rejects the idea that the formation environmentalist has become a party like any other. “We need to distinguish between the parliamentary activity and the soul of the party. Our ultimate goal is not to pass the law on CO2, but out of fossil fuels […] as the strength of parliamentary, we must act step by step”.
Röstigraben of the Covid-19
The elected 48-year-old fears that the crisis related to the new coronavirus does not lose “five to ten years” to the cause of climate change. “We must do everything we can politically to ensure that investments are made in the wrong direction. If our land was a company, everyone upsets in order to save it”, he explains.
It is also concerned that the Covid-19, which “is much more part of the collective memory in French-speaking Switzerland”, away from the French-speaking and German-speaking.
