The police shot an armed man in Adelboden early Thursday evening. This is because there was an “acute threat situation”, as in one Message was called from Friday evening.
Accordingly, shortly after 4 p.m., a message was received that a man in an apartment in an apartment building on Hörnliweg was behaving conspicuously and threatened to injure himself. When the first investigations revealed that the person concerned was armed, specialists from the Bern cantonal police were also added.
The forces tried unsuccessfully to contact the man. Finally, they were able to locate him in a locked room. When the officers entered the room, he threatened them, which is why a police officer shot him. Despite being called up immediately, the injured person died on the spot.
At the request of the NZZ, a spokesman for the Bernese cantonal police could not tell how and with what weapon the man had threatened the police. He referred to the ongoing investigation. The Zurich Cantonal Police headed it up under the direction of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office in Bern.
