On Wednesday evening, the police received a call from a motorist north of Askøy.
– He said that there was a guy standing outside a house and pointing a shotgun at him, says operations manager Eivind Hellesund in the West police district.
This happened in a densely built-up area at 9pm. Armed police took no chances when they approached the address.
– We located the house and got in touch with the man who lives there. A shotgun was seized there, says Hellesund.
The circumstances are unclear. The weapon is legally registered and was properly stored when the police found it, according to Hellesund.
– What lies behind and actually happened, we don’t know yet, says the operations manager.
The gun owner was questioned by the police at the scene. A case is being opened to clarify the details.
