The police in Finnmark went to a home in Karasjok on Sunday evening after reports of a fire. The message came from the fire service.
– There was smoke, and the police were told that a man in his 70s was violent towards the firemen, says operations manager Martin Marum.
The police moved out with two patrols, but did not immediately get control of the man.
– He came out with two knives and went towards the patrol. Then a warning shot was fired into the ground to make him desist, says Marum.
After 10–15 minutes, the police finally got control of the man, who was arrested and taken into custody.
It is not yet known what he will be charged with. The man remains in custody overnight.
