Police remove flaming flag at scout camp

This is not the first time that the police have intervened in the region at the start of the camp season.

Lhe Stavelot-Malmedy police zone intervened on Wednesday during a scout camp in Basse-Bodeux, on the territory of the municipality of Trois-Ponts. The agents had a flaming flag removed, explained the mayor Francis Bairin, confirming information from La Meuse Verviers.

“I was warned that a Flemish flag was flying during a scout camp in Trois-Ponts. I asked the police to go there to have the national flag added. I have nothing against the fact that they display their belonging to a community, but on the other hand, the Belgian flag must be displayed ”, specifies the mayor, who did not go there.

Unprecedented situation

“If the police had this flag removed, it is because they should not have been in possession of a tricolor flag to also be displayed”, adds Francis Bairin. To his knowledge, the situation is unprecedented in the town.

However, this is not the first time that the police have intervened in the region at the start of the camp season. At the beginning of the week, she went to the center of Malmedy, where a flaming flag adorned the facade of a cottage. This Wednesday, it was in Xhoffraix that she intervened to remove a yellow and black flag.
