Operations manager, Tor Gulbrandsen, said they were on site to investigate one of the apartments. He didn’t want to go into what they were looking for. According to Avisa Oslo, the police operation was linked to both the Thon Hotel Opera in Bjørvika and the Tohn Hotel Astoria in Dronningens gate. The hotels are 500 meters apart.
– The message we received was of such a nature that we are on the scene with more resources in case there should be something in it, the operations manager told Oslo newspaper.
The Emergency Squad is a heavily armed special unit under the Oslo Police District. It is specialized to deal with terrorism, hostage situations and more difficult armed missions.
At 10.20pm, the police informed the media that they investigated a report of a violent incident that had been received, but that after investigations there are no indications that such an incident has taken place.
Investigations are still being carried out into the message, and the police say that one hypothesis is that it was false.
