Chokes in Virginia clinic Video shows deadly police operation against African Americans

Surveillance footage shows police officers dragging Irvo Otieno, handcuffed, into a room at a Virginia hospital. Police officers and nurses then fix the 28-year-old on the ground for minutes.

Otieno’s mother said last week that her son was going through a mental crisis. The police treated him “like a dog, worse than a dog,” she said after being shown the video. The family’s attorney, well-known civil rights attorney Ben Crump, said officers held Otieno under his arrest for 12 minutes.
The incident is reminiscent of George Floyd, whose agonizing death by asphyxiation sparked nationwide protests in the United States in 2020. A white police officer had kneed the African American in the city of Minneapolis for around nine and a half minutes, although the 46-year-old repeatedly complained that he could not breathe.
