A twelve-year-old from Marktschellenberg (district BGL) was lucky in misfortune on Sunday afternoon. He had jumped into the Berchtesgadener Ache and was no longer able to reach the shore due to the strong current. Accidentally passing police officers saved the boy, the police reported.
The twelve-year-old was driven away by the strong current towards the weir. He could cling to a bridge pillar on a bridge immediately before the barrage there. Friends of the guy who watched the incident got help and were able to stop a police patrol accidentally passing by on the main street. The officials rushed to the aid of the boy and were able to free him from his predicament. The twelve-year-old was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Another first aider who had previously gone into the water was also driven away by the strong current, but was able to reach the shore independently.
