Police officer attacked in Brussels metro

A plainclothes agent was violently robbed in the Brussels metro last Friday. That reports Het Nieuwsblad and is confirmed by the Brussels public prosecutor’s office. It appears that the perpetrators belonged to a group of young people whom the police officer had previously reprimanded for not wearing a mask. Two suspects were arrested.

The facts occurred on Friday evening at metro station Hermann-Debroux, in Auderghem in Brussels. At the time, the 65-year-old federal judicial police officer was no longer employed and in plainclothes on his way home. When he saw a group of young people who, despite the obligation, did not wear a mask on the metro, he addressed them, but the young people ignored that comment.

Moments later, the officer was attacked by a gang of young people, probably the same group with whom he had collided just before. They attacked and robbed him, then ran away.

“Several suspects could be identified and two of them were arrested that same evening,” said parquet spokesperson Willemien Baert. ‘It’s about KB and AI, both 20 years old. They were placed at the disposal of the investigating judge and were released again after questioning under certain conditions. ‘
