JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Headquarters Inspector General (Pol) Argo Yuwono spoke in response to the alleged threat posed by police intelligence to regional Democratic Party officials.
The threat was related to the extraordinary congress (KLB) which was initiated by a number of former Democratic Party cadres in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra.
According to Argo, his party still has to check the accuracy of the information.
“We first check the truth,” said Argo in his statement, Tuesday (9/3/2021), as quoted from Kompas.com.
Argo explained that the main duties of the National Police as mandated by Law Number 2 of 2002 are to maintain and ensure security and public order.
He emphasized that Polri members are not involved in politics. “Polri is not involved in politics, so don’t drag it into the political sphere. The main task of the National Police is to maintain kamtibmas, “he said.
