Police in France will get impractical but traditional cars

The French police report a return to tradition. After a few decades, its members will be roaming the local roads in vehicles from the Alpine brand. According to the French media, the police ordered 26 A110 coupes, which will be used by members of the Brigades Rapides d’Intervention (BRI) division, which supervises French motorways.

The BRI Brigade has previously used some Alpine models, including the original 1960s A110 model, which serves as inspiration for today’s coupes. The current generation should replace the powerful Renault Mégane RS hatchbacks in the vehicle fleet, which have been serving the police since 2011.

Alpine Pure will get into service everything a proper police car should have, ie stickers, signs indicating the police, a walkie-talkie and beacons. In order for the car to catch anyone who broke the regulations, it will have a standard rear-mounted 1.8-liter turbocharged engine, which offers 252 horsepower and acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.5 seconds. The maximum speed of the Alpine A110 is set at 250 kilometers per hour.

In the future, police officers would not have to end up with only 26 pieces. Alpine is also working on a car with a GT body and also a sports crossover. The police then showed interest in both cars, as the local police authorities only order French-made cars.
