Shortly after noon, the police reported that the hostage taking had ended. Two people with minor injuries are being treated by the emergency services.
Reason unclear
According to local media, the man (40) attempted to enter Radio Dresden’s office through an emergency exit door, but failed. Previously he allegedly killed his 62-year-old mother.
The perpetrator drove a car from the office building where Radio Dresden is located on the edge of downtown to a shopping mall in the city center, where, according to police, he had holed up in a shop with hostages. Police confirmed the shooting and hostage-taking were linked, but did not provide further details.
