Police dog shot during arrest: ‘He saved the life of his companion’ | Abroad

Officers went to the home of fugitive Michael Mack in Fitchburg on Tuesday morning. Mack was wanted by police for allegedly being an accomplice in a shooting that took place earlier.

Police dog Frankie, an 11-year-old Belgian Malinois, was present at the arrest along with dog handler David Sucenski. After a long standoff, Sucenski and Frankie and Mack tried to arrest them. However, Mack opened fire on Frankie and his owner. Frankie was fatally shot. Sucenski mourns the loss of his four-legged friend. “He was a loyal partner.”

Frankie is honored for the attack he launched on Mack. “Frankie was able to disarm the suspect and save his companion’s life,” police wrote on Facebook.

Mack committed suicide shortly after the shots were fired at the police.
