The National Police Unit does not report following a tweet from Forum for Democracy leader Thierry Baudet.
“After internal consultation and after consultation with the colleague involved, we have decided not to make a declaration. The case is settled for us”, the National Unit announced in a tweet on Tuesday.
The police investigation that focused on whether Baudet was guilty of a criminal offense has also been concluded, a spokesperson confirms. The police do not want to go into the matter in substance.
Baudet posted a tweet last weekend which said that two “dear friends” have been harassed by four Moroccans. In reality, it concerned NS civilian staff who carried out a ticket check. A police officer was also involved in the inspection.
Baudet said in a reaction on Monday that he said “too fast and too fierce”. He added that he has taken control “too hastily in a broader political context”; namely in the context of immigration and integration.
FVD MP Theo Hiddema said on Tuesday that he wants clarification about the controversial tweet from his party leader.
