Police cancel search for missing ten-year-olds

Despite a large-scale search, there is still no trace of a ten-year-old girl from Menden who has been missing since Saturday. Because new clues are missing, the police are now taking consequences.

Four days after the disappearance of a ten-year-old girl from Menden in the Sauerland (North Rhine-Westphalia) the police broke off their intensive search. A spokesman for the police department said on Wednesday that any new clue would be followed up immediately. However, no such reports were received.

According to the police, there are still no indications of the child’s whereabouts. Police patrol officers repeatedly drove around the child’s living area and a playground.

At weekends and on Monday, the autistic child was searched with a large contingent – also by helicopter, drone, with sniffer dogs, police, fire brigade forces and hundreds of volunteers. On Tuesday, flow rescuers from the fire department, according to passers-by, recovered finds from the Hönne river several times, but these had no relation to the girl.

The child had run out of the apartment on Saturday in an unobserved moment – probably barefoot and in pajamas. It was feared that it might have fallen into the river that runs right next to the family home.
