Polda Metro Jaya Rejects NGO Report on Alleged Gratification of Luhut

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Polda Metro Jaya rejecting reports to the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investments, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan related to allegations of gratification.

Head of Advocacy and lawyer for the Jakarta Legal Aid Institute or LBH Nelson Nicodemus Simamora said his party had debated with officers at the Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya before the report was rejected.

“And then after arguing for several hours, the Ditreskrimsus finally decided to reject our report,” said Nelson at Polda Metro Jaya, Wednesday (23/3).

Nelson said that one of the reasons given by the police when they refused the report against Luhut was that corruption cases could not be reported.

“The reason for the corruption case is that we can’t make a report, that’s the reason that for us is a fabricated reason for rejecting the report,” said Nelson.

For information, the issue of Luhut’s involvement in business in Papua led to the naming of human rights activist, Haris Azhar and the Coordinator of Kontras, Fatia Maulidiyanti as suspects.

Both were named suspects on suspicion of defamation filed by Luhut and registered with the number STTLP/B/4702/IX/2021/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA, on September 22, 2021.

Haris and Fatia are reported to have followed the video content entitled “There is a Lord Luhut Behind the Economic Relations-Military Ops Intan 8008AJaya!! The BIN General Is Also There!!”. This video was uploaded by Haris on his Youtube account.

In the conversation in the video, it is stated that PT Tobacom Del Mandiri, a subsidiary of the Toba Sejahtera Group, is involved in the mining business in Intan Jaya, Papua. Luhut is a shareholder in the Toba Sejahtera Group.
