Together with Yaroslav Vasinsky, they took into custody, but then released his colleague Yevgeny Polyanin. Vasinsky is planned to be extradited to the United States.

In Poland, the Ukrainian hacker Yaroslav Vasinsky was arrested, accused of extorting $ 50 million from Apple. About it informs U.S. Department of Justice.

It is noted that Vasinsky belonged to the REvil group, which participated in network attacks on enterprises and government agencies in the United States. In April, a criminal gang attacked Apple supplier Quanta Computer and stole design schematics for a 14-inch MacBook Pro. Vasinsky and his accomplices demanded a ransom of $ 50 million from Apple. REvil posted the ransom demand on its website, but the group deleted the message a few days later.

Vasinsky is also suspected of participating in the July attack on the software manufacturer Kaseya.

Together with the hacker, they took into custody, but then released his colleague Yevgeny Polyanin. They seized $ 6.1 million from him.

Both suspects were charged with conspiracy to commit fraud. Yaroslav Vasinsky is planned to be extradited to the United States.

We will remind, the US State Department promised remuneration up to $ 10 million for information that will help establish the identity and place of residence of the main members of the DarkSide hacker group.
