In January, Pochettino replaced Thomas Tuchel, the German champion of the German PSG, on the bench. Under his leadership, the team finished the calendar year in third place, although it lost only a point to Lyon and Lille. Before the end of the season, the Paris club did not get before Lille and after a three-year reign he had to vacate the league throne.
“I am happy, not only for myself, but for the entire implementation team. It is very important to feel support,” Pochettino said after extending his contract with PSG on Friday. “I was a captain here twenty years ago and now I’m a coach. It’s a dream come true,” he recalled his playing history at the club with which he defended the French Cup and Super Cup after his January arrival.
