Of the three plug-in hybrid SUVs tested, none passed the lottery test, but the worst behavior was demonstrated by the Toyota RAV4. The carmaker is therefore already working on the repair.

The moose test, in which the car must quickly avoid an imaginary obstacle and stay in a defined corridor, perhaps does not need to be introduced for long. However, technicians from the Swedish automotive magazine Teknikens Värld recently subjected three plug-in hybrid SUVs to this test, and to their surprise, all the cars burned in it.

The Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid and the Volvo XC40 Regacge T4 did not pass the test, but the Toyota RAV4 showed the worst results ever, as can be seen from the video. In almost every attempt at higher speeds, Toyota switched to overturning and sent its stern far behind the cones marked path.
The technicians managed to achieve a smooth passage at a speed of up to 63 km / h, which is too low a speed for the test to be considered successful. Behind the wheel of the Toyota, several drivers took turns, who always encountered similar behavior. In its report, Teknikens Värld mentions that drivers did not feel that the electronic stabilization program would try to hit and stabilize the car.

However, this is not the first time that Teknikens Värld has encountered problematic Toyota RAV4 behavior. Already with the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid model year 2019, technicians had similar problems with overcoming the moose test. However, after confronting Toyota with the problem, the carmaker quickly rushed to modify the electronic stabilization system. After this modification, the car passed the test without any problems.
Consultations with Toyota were to follow even after finding out the sad results of the RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid model. And the carmaker has already committed to work on fixing the problem as soon as possible in order to pass the monitored lottery test of Teknikens Värld magazine.
