While Microsoft Unveils more and more details on his Xbox Series X, Sony is to date a little more secretive about its next console. That said, that doesn’t stop the entire Internet from multiplying rumors about the PS5!
On this snow-washed Thursday, it’s the turn of the DualShock 5, which will accompany the next PlayStation, to be at the center of speculation.
In doing so, in documents released recently, we discover that Sony filed last summer a patent for an adapter for a controller that could allow wireless charging.

First shared on Reddit, then relayed by GamesRadar, the description mentions that the adapter in question would be connected to the back of the controller and might even include additional keys, a bit like the “Back fixing of controls” (no, but, what a name!) recently launched for the DualShock 4.

Concretely, such an accessory would be welcome for many players (the author of these lines included). Imagine having a huge loading mat where you can drop all of your controllers after completing your game session!

That said, it should be remembered that, for the moment, all this remains speculation. A patent remains a patent, while these do not always, or rather rarely, turn into real products.
It could also be that these plans were intended for the “Back fixing of controls” of the DualShock 4 and the idea of wireless charging was finally abandoned for X or Y reason.
By cons, there is always the possibility that the patent is indeed linked to the DualShock 5. And in this case, it would be a very good move for Sony.
In the meantime, we’ll continue to light lanterns so that official details on the PlayStation 5 will be revealed very soon!
