PlayStation 5 consoles come with fans from different manufacturers – Gaming – News

Sony appears to have released several versions of the PlayStation 5. The two models each use different fans from a different manufacturer. Previously, Sony already released PS4 Pro and PS3 variants with fans from different manufacturers.

The consoles with different fans were noticed by, among others members of the Gathering of Tweakers forum. This concerns fans with 23 and 17 respectively blades. Also forum visitors on NeoGAF in ResetEra report that PS5 consoles have two different fans in circulation. It appears that the 23 blade fan is manufactured by Delta, while the 17 blade variant is from Nidec.

French website Digital holds the two PS5 models with different fans, and publishes, among other things, sound recordings of the two fans. This shows that the fan with 17 blades seems to produce slightly more noise than the variant with 23 fan blades, although the observed differences are not great. The noise difference between the two variants amounts to approximately 4dBa in the tests. ‘Console A’ with Delta fan produces around 39dBa of sound while playing Demon’s Souls, while on the PS5 with Nidec fan it comes down to 43dBa.

The 17-blade Nidec fan also produces a somewhat more ‘rattling’ sound in the tests of Les Numériques. This sound is presumably produced by the fan’s motor and occurs to a lesser extent in the sound recordings of the Delta fan. The website says it has compared five editors’ PS5 consoles. Two of them had a fan from Delta, while three models had a Nidec variant. Sony has used several fans for the production of Playstation consoles in the past. For example, the PS4 Pro also came with fans of Delta or Nidec.

The console manufacturer released its PlayStation 5 earlier this month, although this one limited availability used to be. Earlier today, Sony reported on Twitter that the PS5 accounted for the ‘biggest PlayStation release to date’. In addition, the company promises that ‘new stock’ will be provided to retailers this year. Tweakers published earlier a review of the PlayStation 5.
