Tragic events due to parental neglect occurred in Florida, United States of America. An eight-year-old boy shot dead a baby girl and injured another toddler as he played with his father’s gun.
Reported from the news agency AFPWednesday (29/6/2022), Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons said at a news conference the child’s father, Roderick Randall, 45, was arrested and charged with negligence, unlawful possession of a firearm and withholding evidence.
Tragedy shooting it — all too common in a country awash with guns — happened at a motel where Randall was meeting his girlfriend. Randall has a criminal record that forbids him from owning a gun.
Simmons said the man took his son with him, while his girlfriend took her two-year-old twins and one-year-old baby girl with her.
Simmons said, at one point, Randall left the room and left the gun “in the cupboard”. Knowing where the gun was hidden, his 8 year old son picked it up and started playing with it while Randall’s lover was asleep.
“He pulled a gun from its holster, started playing with the gun and fired a bullet at the one-year-old baby, which ultimately killed him. The bullet then went through and hit one of the two-year-olds who was injured but is expected to recover.”
