Play in a virtual band with Fortnite Festival – Daily Nintendo

Since its release in 2017, Fortnite has been best known as the battle royale shooter where building plays an important role. Previous collaborations already showed that owner Epic Games has much bigger plans for the game: from collaborations with Dragon Ball where you could watch episodes of the series in the game to in-game concerts by artists such as Eminem and Marshmello. But this week there was something completely different on the agenda: new, free Fortnite games! And rhythm game Fortnite Festival is the most recent addition to that series.

Earlier this week, Fortnite fans were treated to LEGO Fortnite, which is reminiscent of Minecraft. Then it became racing game Rocket Racing launched, a collaboration with the developer of Rocket League. And now it is the turn of rhythm playing Fortnite Festival, created by none other than Rock Band developer Harmonix. What can you expect from this new game within the Fortnite ecosystem?

How does Fortnite Festival work?

Fortnite Festival is free and can be found in Fortnite by searching the ‘Discover’ screen. If you’ve ever played Rock Band or Guitar Hero, you’ll have an idea of ​​what the gameplay is like. By pressing the right buttons at the right time, you can play well-known songs. And there are quite a few!

There are currently 33 songs available, 12 of which you can play for free. The Weeknd plays a major role in the current Fortnite season, but Lady Gaga, The White Stripes and Billie Eilish are also represented in the set list. But there is also a lot of variation in the instruments: you can choose from guitar, keytar, drums, bass guitar or a microphone. And although you currently have to control these instruments with your Switch controller, Epic Games has already revealed that it is prioritizing the development of ‘special’ controllers.
