Plastic Tape Road Trap Endangers Motorists in Settimo Torinese: Mayor Calls for Serious Consequences

A plastic tape tied to two poles at eye level in via Leinì in front of the roundabout leading to the railway underpass, a “killer” trap for motorists and motorcyclists. This is what happened on the night between Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th January in Settimo Torinese. A group of boys – as can be seen from the amateur video of a local resident – attached a tape to two road sign poles, thus endangering passing motorists. The investigations are in the hands of the police, who have already acquired images from the video surveillance cameras from the area.

“This is a very serious matter,” said the mayor Elena Piastra. The game, if it can be defined as such, was taken up by a resident of via Leinì. A trap that could have been “killer”. The tape, tied at eye level, was dismantled by a motorist who noticed the danger while passing by. In the meantime, the children fled. Alerted by motorists and some residents, the Carabinieri of Castiglione Torinese intervened on site.

«This night near the railway underpass in via Leinì a group of boys attempted to obstruct the passage of vehicles by stretching a tape across the road. – stated the mayor of Settimo Torino, Elena Piastra – There were no consequences because the first motorist who passed was quick enough to notice and remove the tape. However, this is a serious fact that could have had worse consequences.” (Maristella De Michele)
