Pizza machine on Industriestrasse Lucerne is history

The pizza machine has only been in a garage on Industriestrasse in Lucerne since the beginning of May. He has already achieved some notoriety. He was present in the media several times. If you walk down Industriestrasse, you will almost always meet a few people who are eating at the facility. Be it for pleasure or simply because the machine is an absolute novelty for almost everyone. And it seems a bit absurd.

But the device, which is especially popular with younger people, is history again. The garage door is closed and a container has been pushed in front of it. The pizza machine is operated by the Sinnvoll Gastro company, which operates several restaurants in Lucerne and the surrounding area. The «Grottino 1313» on Industriestrasse. Upon request, it confirms the preliminary end of the project.

More machines already ordered

“We took the machine out of operation in the middle of last week and are now looking for a new location,” says Simon Feigenwinter, co-owner of Sinnvoll Gastro. Although he is calm, Feigenwinter regrets that it is no longer possible to go on Industriestrasse. «The offer was very well received. Since the machine went into operation, we’ve sold around a thousand pizzas. That is why we have already ordered two more devices. ”

“Here, too, it turned out that it is difficult to do something innovative in the city center.”

Simon Feigenwinter, Sensible Gastro

Meaningful Gastro fell victim to its own success. “Since the machine was omnipresent on channels like Tiktok, too many people simply came. It was not uncommon for them to pull up in several cars at the same time. There was a lot going on, especially at night, »says Feigenwinter.

Rambazamba all night

As it turns out, to the displeasure of the residents of the house to the left of the machine. «We have had complaints since the system was commissioned. Even a poster with which we called on our customers to be considerate was ultimately unsuccessful. That is why we are now drawing a line on Industriestrasse », Feigenwinter regrets. He can understand to some extent that it was too much for the residents because of the cars. Since the machine is on private property, no one could have legally forbidden it, according to Feigenwinter.

Implementation of projects remains difficult in the city center

Simon Feigenwinter believes that Corona was also fatal for the machine. The «Bar59» has been closed for months. The visitors who walk through Industriestrasse in the early morning hours and slam the doors of the taxis have stayed away since then.

In other words: it has been very quiet lately on the exit mile and it was easy to sleep at night – until the pizza machine came. “It was now simply clear who was to blame for the noise,” Feigenwinter analyzes what happened. And further: “Here, too, it turned out that it is difficult to do something innovative in the city center without someone tying you back.”

This finding is exciting. There are currently efforts in politics to create zones in the city center in which higher noise limits apply. Last winter, the SP submitted a proposal to the city parliament. The city council does not want to know anything about this, however, as the legal hurdles are too high for implementation. Much in the area of noise protection is regulated at the federal level (Zentralplus reported).

The recently founded Lucerne Bar and Club Commission aims to create better conditions for the night economy, which is not always very quiet. It sees itself as the political voice of these companies (Zentralplus reported).

The pizza machine is in this garage. But now the gates are closed again.
