Life imprisonment is the sentence imposed on Roula Pispirigou for attempted murder and the murder of her daughter Georgina. The decision is unanimous.
Earlier, the Mixed Jury Court of Athens, decided her guilt also for the crime of attempted homicide against her child on April 11, 2021.
“In order for the decision to be considered a conviction, a penalty must be imposed as prescribed by law. Based on the jurisprudence, only life imprisonment is provided for. There is no other choice.” said the district attorney.
“Georgina had the misfortune in her young life to have a mother, a mother, a nurturer, a carer, the accused” she had mentioned features in her long-term marriage.
According to information, Roula Pispirigou listened calmly without reacting to the decision on her guilt.

According to the decision, the cardiac arrest suffered by Georgina in April 2021 in the Karamandane Hospital, was the result of a criminal act by Pispirigou. The court accepts that that medical event, which had been treated by the doctors but caused quadriplegia in the child, had been caused by the mother’s intervention.

The lawyer of Roulas Pispirigou, Alexis Kougias, spoke of a “huge judicial scandal”.
More specifically, he said that he was surprised by the decision as he was convinced of the woman’s innocence, nevertheless he respects the result of the Greek Justice.
“In our opinion the accused is innocent and with the consent of the accused we will not ask for mitigating circumstances”said Alexis Kougias characteristically.
He then said: “I am obliged to respect the decision of the court and the huge judicial scandal, the guilt of Roula Pispirigou.”
