The dog sits behind the wheel of the car and with great importance pretends to be driving. The cat gets stuck high in the hedge and can’t get out. Pets quite often cause a smile and sometimes even bursts of laughter. Pictures from the global Comedy Pet Photo Awards photo competition try to capture such funny moments. This year, two photographers from the Czech Republic are among its finalists.
Competition Comedy Pet Photo Awards founded by professional photographers Paul Joynson-Hicks and Tom Sullam. They had two goals in mind – to celebrate the positive role that pets play in our lives and at the same time to raise funds for charities that try to find homes for abandoned animals.
“This year, thanks to our partnership with the insurance company Animal Friends Pet Insurance, we are donating thirty-five thousand pounds (about a million crowns – editor’s note) to three such charities. The overall winner of the competition will decide which charity will receive the additional five thousand ,” the organizers explain.
The overall winner will be chosen by a jury from around thirty finalists. New this year is a public vote, whose favor will decide who will win the Animal Friends People’s Choice Award. Voting is already possible on the website www.comedypetphoto.com.
The overall winner of the competition, which will be announced on September 13, will receive a cash prize of two thousand pounds (roughly 60 thousand crowns) and the opportunity to determine which charity will receive a contribution of five thousand pounds. This year, two photographers from the Czech Republic, Peter Čech and Radim Filípek, are also among the finalists.
