The story of the first original Go3 series “Tunnel” takes place in the prison in 2004, where complex dramas of the relationship between prisoners and their caretakers take place, a massive and enigmatic escape is organized, sympathizing with the love of the protagonist and the prison chief’s daughter for a new, beautiful life.
The beginning of the whole is the moment when the life of the main character Kārlis (Andris Bulis) – an exemplary construction company manager, loving husband and father – turns upside down because he is unjustly sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife and little son, which was actually committed by robbers. . Arriving in prison and without a criminal past, he has to survive, adapt, find friends without surrendering his principles, while trying to realize his plans for revenge and fall in love with Esther (Anete Berke).
Andris Bulis admits: “The plot resonates with our everyday life in a strange and interesting way now, because many of us feel like in prison, subject to a specific situation around the world and other rules of the game that are not our own choice. We adapt and try to keep common sense, try to believe in a good solution. and a beautiful future despite the harsh, uncertain conditions. But we know that escaping the present or this conditional prison is not the end, it may be just the beginning … “
The plot direction of the original “Tunnel” is not only related to the prison environment. Another line of the story makes you think about the power of love, humanism and compassion. Estere (Anete Berke), the daughter of the young and energetic prison manager, receives her father’s permission to set up a probation program in the prison, following the example of Norway, to help prisoners integrate more easily into society after release and not to degrade while in captivity. Prisoners take care of abandoned dogs, which are then returned for adoption. Kārlis applies to the program and gets closer to Esther, both of them helping each other, as well as planning a difficult and secret escape together, which turns into a mass outbreak.
