The Israeli army arrested two members of the Islamic Jihad militant group after security forces surrounded the Israeli West Coast city of Jenin.

There were clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinian protesters on Sunday in Geneva, but Israeli police said the two Palestinians were captured without resistance.

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said the men’s capture operation was “impressive, sophisticated and fast”, adding that what had happened wrong could be changed.

The other four Palestinians were captured last week. The infringement is currently under investigation.

Six escaped men who shared a cell in prison were sentenced to life imprisonment for involvement in deadly terrorist attacks against Israelis. Three of them have tried unsuccessfully to escape before.

One Palestinian is Zakari Zubeidi, a former leader of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade terrorist group, and the other five are members of the Palestinian militant group Islamic Jihad.

Five escaped members of Islamic Jihad have been sentenced to life in prison for involvement in deadly attacks. Zubeidi has been in custody pending more than 20 trials, including one for attempted murder.

A spokesman for the Israeli prison commented that the incident was a major security breach. A senior police official said it was one of the worst incidents of its kind in Israel. The Hamas terrorist group, on the other hand, has called it a feat.
