A Norwegian woman in her fifties was arrested at an airport in the Philippines. Numerous local media reports.
The woman is said to have been stopped at the checkpoint on her way to the capital Manila. In her suitcase, the police found several bags of white powder, the media wrote.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms to Dagbladet that it is aware that a Norwegian citizen is incarcerated in the Philippines.
– The Norwegian embassy in Manila provides consular assistance, but due to legal confidentiality we cannot comment further on the matter, writes Foreign Ministry spokesman Mathias Rongved in an email to Dagbladet.
Possible drug discovery in daycare: – Severe
Police have sent the substance for analysis but suspect it is methamphetamine.
Brigadier General Narciso Domingo of the Philippine Narcotics Police informs a local news agency that it is about 8.3 kilograms of dust.
Domingo estimates the drug is worth around 57 million Philippine pesos, equivalent to around NOK 10 million.
The dust must have been wrapped in brown duct tape and gray duct tape and stuck inside his suitcase.
It is currently unclear how the woman responds to the allegations against her.
