“Phantomine” wants to go to Finland as a D-Liner for the World Cup – Football-Fan.de

The association has now also named the squad of 60 for the women’s football world championship in Finland. 75 players presented themselves to the coaches in Berlin, 55 plus five of them are in the provisional squad, which will be reduced to 45 plus five after another camp on June 25th and 26th in Mainz.

Tom Balkow, Director of Competitive Sports Women, explains: “We went to the camp with the clear objective of deciding after the weekend which 55 women would accompany us on our way towards the World Cup. The power density has probably never been so high among women, so a reduction in squads is really difficult. Due to the sometimes very good performances, we decided to give five more players a kind of practice squad place in addition to the 55 players. So we will go to the next camp in June with 60 players. Then it is a matter of finding the final squad of 45 plus five replacements.”

Tanja Bachmann (photo) from the Wiesbaden Phantoms will also be there! The 30-year-old, who acts as an assistant coach on offense in the Phantoms’ GFL2 team and is supported by the players in their own training, has been nominated for the national team as a D-Liner.

“After the jump from the 75s to the 55s, I would like to go to the World Cup, of course,” said Bachmann combatively. “The Phantoms GFL2 team guys are so excited about my nomination that I just have to do it,” she adds with a smile.

Bachmann started football in Limburg ten years ago, moved to Mainz three years later and became German runner-up in 2016 and 2017. After three years of inactivity, she decided in February to try out for the national team and has been training with the GFL2 Phantoms and Stuttgart Scorpions Sisters ever since.
