The young Chinese brand Tecno presented several interesting novelties already at the spring MWC fair in Barcelona. Now it has revealed a rolling concept called the Phantom Ultimate. The phone is interesting mainly because by pressing the button on the upper right corner you start the scrolling mechanism, which expands the display from 6.55″ to 7.11″ by itself. The whole process takes just over a second.

It is an on-cell LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 2296 x 1596 pixels. The pixel density is 388 ppi and in terms of colors we should look forward to 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. In addition, on the back of the phone we will find another Always-on display that will display information such as the time, battery charge or notifications.

Despite the fact that the phone has a scrolling mechanism, it maintains reasonable dimensions. The thickness is only 9.93 mm and the back with a fine texture ensures a better grip. The sliding part of the display is equipped with protective glass against scratches.

Although the Tecno Phantom Ultimate is just another concept, it seems that the company could compete with Samsung’s jigsaws in the future. It is still too early to make similar judgments, however, Tecno brings a breath of fresh air to the segment of folding and rollable phones.
