Péter Takács: we will definitely improve primary health care (video)

He said that it was first necessary to assess whether the current practice financing system could be used to improve wages. Péter Takács stated that the collegial leaders of general practitioners stated with precisely supported calculations that it cannot be farmed out, and the government also accepted this.

According to the politician, this may have been misunderstood by the Hungarian Medical Chamber, which – as he put it

sometimes uses different communication in public than at the negotiating table.

The Secretary of State also spoke about that

with the 18 percent wage increase in July, the basic salary of an average nurse working for 20 years will increase from 390,000 to 460,000, which is a significant increase.

He added,

in the past four years, the salaries of healthcare professionals have increased by 72 percent, and the salary increase program will continue from March.

He recalled that there was a “historical wage increase” for doctors during the coronavirus epidemic, then the salary scale was split, which according to the plans will once again be only 37 percent on average between doctors and nurses. Péter Takács said that the wage scale for skilled workers is being radically reformed, and they are working on this together with the Hungarian Chamber of Skilled Workers and the trade unions.
