Peter Okoye revealed that he and his wife Lola, daughter Aliona and he tested positive for coronavirus.
In a video shared on social media, Peter Okoye said he was the first to test positive for the virus.
“For the past three weeks, I have been sick and most people do not even know what is wrong with me. I kept it for myself. It was three weeks of hell for my family and me… I was sick and I tested positive.
I decided to talk about it publicly because I want to encourage a lot of people to be aware of and respect social distancing measures, to get used to disinfecting their hands, disinfecting their environment, and wearing the mask.
It was hell for my family. Not just for me. Even two of my domestic workers tested positive. After a week, my daughter also contracted the virus. It is sad that when she contracted it, the doctor insisted that she be isolated in her own room, but my wife did something very courageous. She said no.
I was sick and I isolated myself in my guest room. I couldn’t even see my sick daughter and I felt so bad. I felt so bad because I felt like I was the one who brought the virus into the house. It was so bad that I called her by video to watch her.
The next day my wife did something very courageous. She took our daughter out of her room, held her in her arms and took her to the master bedroom, then she called me and she started to cry. I asked her what had happened and she told me that she couldn’t leave our daughter alone. “I prefer to be infected and be with her,” she told me.
Five or six days later, my daughter was declared negative. When it was declared negative, we knew it would not end there. The following day, Lola was declared positive. It was hell, but we had a bad experience. I just want to tell everyone that this Covid-19 is real. Do not underestimate this disease.
I am happy to report that my wife, myself, our daughter and two of our domestic workers are now all negative ”, did he declare.
