PETA vs. Far Cry 6. Organization Urges Ubisoft to Change Mini-Game To “Glorify Cruelty”

An international non-profit animal rights organization took note of the content posted on Far Cry 6. PETA presented its official position and asked Ubisoft to change the mini-game where a rooster fighting in brutal duels is controlled.

PETA, which focuses on the protection of animal rights, undertakes various initiatives to draw attention to violent human activities. From time to time, video games also become the object of interest for the representatives of the organization. It is worth reminding about protest at Animal Crossing, a request to remove fur from Warhammer or also a petition to amend Farming Simulator 17.

Currently, Ubisoft’s latest production has been targeted by animal rights warriors. Alicia Aguayo, Senior Manager of PETA Latino, released a statement regarding a Far Cry 6 mini-game where users have the opportunity to control roosters:

“Turning the terrifying, bloody sport of cockfighting into a Mortal Kombat-style video game is far from a true innovation as today’s society strongly opposes forcing animals to fight to the death. Roosters used in cockfighting are equipped with sharp spurs that pierce flesh and bones, causing agonal and fatal injuries. PETA Latino is calling on Ubisoft to replace this shameful minigame with a game that doesn’t glorify atrocities. “

The references to Mortal Kombat do not seem unfounded, as the developers have introduced graphic sequences that are associated with a well-known fight. It seems doubtful, therefore, that Ubisoft will change such an extensive mechanics, in the end players can get birds and exhibit them in the next duels, but what will be the position of the producer and publisher? Probably the studio will address the allegations soon.

It is worth noting that in part of the official PETA Latino motto we can read that “Animals are not ours to be used for entertainment or otherwise used”. The institution is firmly opposed to human domination over animals.
