Rapper Kurt returns with the album “Laaika” celebrities

After a break of many years, releasing his second solo album “Laika”, one of the pioneers of the domestic hip hop genre – rapper Kurt from the legendary association “S’T’A” – has returned to the Latvian hip hop music scene. Simultaneously with the release of the album, the video of the first single was also submitted to the audience.

The album, symbolically titled “Time”, includes 11 Kurt songs composed in 2021 and two Scythians. Along with Kurt, the album features several guest artists – musician and producer Fakts (Jānis Šmēdiņš), as well as two rising stars of hip hop music – the provocative rapper BDM and the young, talented performer Amanito.

According to Kurt, the new album is a musical journey at a time when the listener of a piece of music goes from 2000 to the present day.

“Many years have passed since I first took the stage, and time has not stood still, as have hip hop music and me. Although I know that many would like to climb the same river a second time, it is not possible, and at all, is it necessary?

This album is like a symbolic journey from the days when, in many ways, the hall was greener, to the present day. You can hear many references to my past works and many hidden messages. Yes, I haven’t said anything in any song just like that, and in some places it won’t be as it seems at first, and only a careful listener will be able to hear it, ”says Kurt.

Kurt’s album “Laaika” was recorded by “Prime Time Studio” in Jelgava, and it was mixed and mastered by musician and producer Fakts (Jānis Šmēdiņš). The authors of the instrumental accompaniment of the songs included in the album are several producers, including Latvian beatmakers Mark1 and Sakura 808, as well as beatmakers from Russia, Germany, Kazakhstan, the USA and other countries.

The single “No Doubt”, the video of which Kurt released at the same time as the release of the album, is an artist’s reflection on the lessons learned over the years and the desire to move forward in spite of everything. The director of the video and the author of the idea is Tom Rings, a well-known videographer among hip hop musicians, who has turned the visual interpretation of the song into a kind of Kurt interview with himself.

Kurt’s album Time is available on all popular music streaming sites, including Spotify, Apple Music.
