Peskov refuses to answer the question about the torture of terrorists; activists condemn torture

On Sunday, the Basmannia District Court of Moscow imposed the arrest of four men who are accused of organizing a terrorist attack in a concert hall in Moscow suburbs.

On Monday, a representative of the US media CNN asked Peskov to comment on the fact that the pictures and videos taken in the courtroom show that the detainees are subjected to violence – they have bruises and swollen faces, and one of them was brought to the court hearing in a wheelchair. On the other hand, over the weekend, videos showing the torture of detainees appeared on the Internet.

“I will leave this question unanswered,” Peskov emphasized.

According to the latest data, 137 people were killed and at least 180 others were injured in Friday’s terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall concert hall. The jihadist group “Islamic State” has already claimed responsibility for this attack.

Meanwhile, the activist organization “Team Against Torture” has publicly condemned the violence against the suspects.

“The answer to barbarism should not be barbarism,” the activists said in a statement.

Activists emphasize that testimony given during torture is of little value, because a person does not tell the truth, but anything to end the torture.

Such torture also contributes to an increase in the level of cruelty in society, according to activists.

“If the state allows the torture of terrorism suspects, it can also use illegal violence against other citizens,” the organization said in a statement.
