Peskov after Zelensky’s statement: We did not know that we wanted to destroy Moldova

Russia does not know what Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky meant by his claims of alleged interception of a “Russian plan to undermine the political situation in Moldova.” This was stated by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, quoted by TASS.

“You have to ask Mr. Zelensky. We don’t know what it’s about,” he replied succinctly when asked if such a plan actually existed or if it was disinformation.

Yesterday, Zelensky said he had given Moldovan President Maya Sandu a document he described as “a Russian plan to destroy the political situation in Moldova.” He clarified that the document was intercepted by Ukrainian intelligence and added that it shows who, when and how “will break Moldova” and “establish control over it”.

After Zelensky’s statement, the Moldovan security service confirmed that Ukraine had provided it with information about alleged preparations for actions to destabilize the situation in the country.

TASS recalls that on February 2, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the West is considering using Moldova for the role of a “new Ukraine”.

He noted that Sandu wants Moldova to join NATO and is ready to unite the country with Romania. According to him, Moldova is one of the countries that the West “wants to turn into the next anti-Russian center”.
