Pešán’s era at the national team begins! What does a Karjal nomination look like?

Ten of the nominated players have not yet played a match in the senior national team and could make their debut at Karjala. These are goalkeepers Hrachovina, Pařík, defenders Jiříček, Kubíček, Svozil and attackers Myšák, Pytlík, Raška, Michael Špaček and Teplý. With the exception of Hrachovina and Špačka, the remaining eight debutants are candidates for the Junior World Championships, which will take place at the turn of the year in Edmonton, Canada.

Of the players operating in Czech clubs, only goalkeeper Lukáš Pařík from Liberec, defenders Filip Hronek from Hradec Králové, David Jiříček from Pilsen, Stanislav Svozil from Kometa Brno and Šimon Kubíček from Litoměřice and attackers Jan Myšák from Litvínov, Adam Raška from Třinec and Michal Teplý from Mladá Boleslav.

Karjala national team? Pešán is considering taking the juniors, he will not call anyone from the extra league

“In my opinion, Czech hockey is senselessly paralyzed by government regulations, it is not played or coached. That’s why I didn’t want to nominate anyone from the extra league. Nevertheless, in the end I had to add some to the list. Only on Sunday I received apologies from eight or nine of our compatriots. Most of them apologized for health reasons, some received a ban from their clubs, “Pešán said during a video conference, adding that the ban was given to goalkeeper Lukáš Dostál from Ilves Tampere.

All 27 substitutes then work in the domestic extra-league, Pešán would use them, but only if he was forced to do so by apologies.

The only NHL player is Detroit defender Filip Hronek, who now works in Hradec Králové. “Negotiations with the NHL and AHL teams to release their players are very difficult, so in the end we only took Filip. He has such a strong position in his organization that Detroit general manager Steve Yzerman has easily released him, “said Pešán.

The Czechs will enter Karjala next Thursday against Sweden. The match was originally supposed to take place in the O2 arena in Prague, with regard to the development of the epidemiological situation in the Czech Republic, the possible extension of the state of emergency and the goal to reduce travel between countries. On Saturday, the national team will challenge the home Finns and a day later will end the tournament with a match with the Russians.

Due to the situation, the tournament will take place under emergency measures. The players and the implementation team will travel to Helsinki on two charter flights – from Prague and Moscow. Club-level players in Sweden and Finland travel to Helsinki individually. All will be tested in the countries where they operate and again upon arrival in Helsinki.

All participants will be accommodated in one hotel in the so-called bubble mode. Matches with Sweden and Russia will take place without spectators, only 4,500 fans will have access to the home team’s matches.

The national team will defend last year’s championship at Karjala, when they defeated Sweden, Russia and Finland on separate raids under the leadership of Miloš Říha.
